The Fifth Sarajevo Arbitration Day, a significant milestone for the arbitration community in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), took place in Sarajevo on 24 October 2019.
International commercial arbitration is, by its nature, a melting pot of influences. It is inherently diverse in its various manifestations and constellations. Any attempt to resolve the complex, industry-specific cross-border disputes can only be successful if the arbitral proceedings are conducted with due consideration of the geographical, national, legal, industry and gender aspects of the specific dispute.
The Association dedicated its Fifth Sarajevo Arbitration Day to the most challenging contemporary issues in the practice of international commercial arbitration: The Many Faces of Diversity in International Arbitration. Once again, the conference gathered renowned local, regional and international experts. The conference program reflected the complexity of its topic. We were very excited to host the discussions around the diverse challenges women and other minorities face in arbitration, the appointment, and selection of arbitrators, as well as challenges BiH practitioners face in FIDIC and concession related arbitration.
